José Tirado

Born in Barcelona, Jose Tirado graduated in Audiovisual Communication from Pompeu Fabra University. He then moved to Madrid to train at the ECAM and, upon returning to Barcelona, completed his studies at ESCAC. After trying different fields within the audiovisual sector for several years, he discovered his passion for art direction. His other obsession, collecting and preserving antique furniture, led him to further his studies at the Institute of Conservation and Restoration Applied to Furniture. Since 2013, he has worked as an art director in film, advertising, fashion, and music videos. This experience has allowed him to teach classes and masterclasses at the San Sebastián International Film Festival’s “Diálogos de Cineastas,” the IED (European Design Institute), and LCI Education (School of Design and Visual Arts). He has also served on the International Jury of the BAMV Fest.

Furthermore, he has been awarded Best Art Director for a Feature Film at the Ischia International Film Festival and has received nominations and awards from the Goya Awards for AS BESTAS, AICP Awards, Shots Awards, UK Music Video Awards, the Ciclope Festival, El Ojo de Iberoamérica (Bronze Winner), Le Club des Directeurs Artistiques (Bronze Winner), Berlin Commercial, Cresta Awards, Gerety Awards, ADG Laus Awards (Gold Winner), the AWARD Awards (Australasian Writers and Art Directors Association), Epica Awards (Silver Winner), Círculo de Creatividad Argentina (Gold Winner), and in two occasions at the APCP Awards (Spanish Association of Advertising Production Companies). Jose is a member of the Spanish Film Academy and the AEDAA association of Production Designers. He is fluent in Catalan, Spanish, English, and Italian.

“My teaching method is based on my personal experience in the sector. Therefore, I like to share what I have learned over these years of work in a very practical way and from a highly personal point of view.”
