Introducction

Generative artificial intelligence has burst with force into the audiovisual world, transforming creative processes and multiplying expressive possibilities. Its impact is seen in visual design, narrative, music, post-production and in an increasing way, in the manner in which we conceive and develop audiovisual projects.

This technological revolution demands new profiles capable of integrating creative vision, critical thinking and technical mastery, and of understanding how this technology modifies contemporary visual languages.

The Postgraduate in Advanced Audiovisual Creation with Generative AI is born to train the creators of this new stage. The program combines technical and theoretical foundations with a critical and experimental approach to generative tools applied to the audiovisual.

Throughout the course, you will work with models of generation of image, video, sound and text, exploring how to build characters, visual universes, micro-narratives and complete pieces in motion.

This postgraduate proposes an innovative framework that unites creativity, reflection, technology and intensive practice, generating an ideal environment to explore new aesthetics, expand audiovisual language and acquire skills that are already essential in the industry.

Values

Creativity in a new paradigm

The program invites you to develop an original look that combines human intuition and generative tools. AI does not replace creativity: it expands it, complexifies it and challenges it.

  • Critical thinking and applied ethics
  • The integration of AI in art brings with it debates about authorship, originality, rights and responsibility. The program places these questions in the center, training you to make informed, ethical and conscious decisions.

Technical experimentation as an expressive motor

You will learn to use diverse tools of generative AI —for text, image, video, sound or digital worlds— from a practical perspective and oriented to real projects.

Contemporary audiovisual culture

You will explore how AI is transforming cinema, music, fashion, digital art, sequential narratives and new formats, understanding its impact on current visual languages.

Methodology

The methodology of the postgraduate is based on a balance between theory, practice and experimentation.

You will work on projects that evolve from conceptualization and visual design until the final production of pieces generated with AI.

The sessions combine critical analysis, technical demonstrations, study of cases, teamwork, masterclasses with professionals and tutorials that accompany the creative process.

The learning is progressive and immersive: you will start with historical, ethical and legal foundations, to later enter into generative tools, creation of characters and environments, visual narrative, experimentation in motion and development of integral projects.

The objective is that you learn to create in an autonomous, conscious and professional way in the new audiovisual ecosystem of AI.

Study plan

The postgraduate is organized in six subjects that go through the creative process from critical reflection until the complete production of narrative and experimental works generated with artificial intelligence.

1 Audiovisual Creation with Generative AI

Through theoretical sessions and practical projects, you will imagine characters, build worlds, and shape your stories. You will learn to work with images, video, sound, and generative text, exploring new aesthetics and ways of storytelling. The goal is for you to discover how to integrate AI into your creative process to expand your possibilities and take your ideas much further.

1.1
Foundations of AI: History, ethics, law and authorship

This module offers a broad vision of the historical, technological and cultural context of generative artificial intelligence. It addresses its ethical, legal and authorship challenges, as well as the contemporary debates about creativity, originality and [the] role of the creator in the era of the thinking machine.

1.2
Technology and generative AI tools

Transversal subject centered on the technical learning of AI tools applied to texts, images, video, sound and music. It allows [one] to acquire the necessary skills to generate audiovisual content and address the projects of the course with technical solvency and creative criteria.

1.3
Characters and environments

A practical block oriented to the creation of characters, visual universes and environments generated with AI. Techniques of consistency, integration, lighting, virtual locations and visual development are worked [on], applying these competencies in a first project: a fashion editorial created with AI.

1.4
Written creation and visual narrative

Module centered on the construction of stories from narrative synthesis and sequential image. The students develop a comic-book generated with AI, learning to apply narrative structures, visual syntax, generative writing and processes of conceptualization that connect idea, aesthetics and story.

1.5
Image in motion

Subject dedicated to the creation of audiovisual pieces without text —music video, fashion film or video art— using generative AI in all its phases: visual treatment, storyboard, casting, locations, sound, editing and post-production. The objective is to produce a piece of minimum 3 minutes.

1.6
Postgraduate Final Project

The final module consists of the integral creation of a narrative audiovisual piece, of at least 5 minutes, conceived mostly with generative artificial intelligence. The project covers writing, visual design, image in motion, music, editing, post-production and final presentation, integrating all the competencies acquired in the program.

Experience

The postgraduate proposes an immersive formative experience where creativity, technology and reflection coexist. During the course you will participate in masterclasses, analysis of cases, technical sessions and collaborative projects that replicate real dynamics of the audiovisual sector.

Furthermore, you will work together with a teaching team composed of creators, filmmakers, technologists and specialists in AI, which will allow you to know first-hand how artificial intelligence is integrated in different professional areas.

The interdisciplinary environment of ELISAVA favors experimentation, the connection with other programs and the construction of a creative community where [to] share processes, references and learnings.
