I Could See the Smallest Things is a visual representation of conflicting sentiments within contemporary city life. Through this series, Eric Sandstrom (b. 1997, Canada) uses the streets of Barcelona to encourage contemplation on themes of isolation, alienation, and control.

Each image creates a sense of distance, yet carries with it a desire to connect despite the barriers put up between us. All together, a dialogue is formed, using grit, darkness, and available light to show that beauty persists, if only we take the time to look closer.
