Teaches digital photography and post-production

(H)elena Olcina i Amigo is a computer engineer (UPV) specializing in graphics and imaging. She moved to Barcelona to do a Master’s Degree in Design and Advertising and worked for several publishing houses in the areas of design and photography. Between 2005 and 2010, she explored social documentary photojournalism, traveling throughout Latin America and Africa. She published photo reports in media outlets such as El Mundo, El Periódico de Cataluña, La Vanguardia, La Directa, and Il Manifesto. She currently works as a graphic designer and photographer in her design studio Fabrika Grafika. Since 2016, she has been a member of the Carme B. Godella art collective.

Carme B Godella is a collective of photographers who explore the intersections between art, politics, and society through images. It uses photography as a tool to make invisible realities visible and tell stories that question power structures, social justice, and human rights. Its work is characterized by a critical and committed approach, fusing aesthetics with denunciation to create powerful images that challenge dominant narratives. They have exhibited their projects at the MuVIM in Valencia, Ikas Art in Bilbao, and FotoEspai in Gandía, among others.

“My pedagogical approach to photography is based on practical and dynamic teaching in a workshop format. Through live image editing, students observe and participate in the entire work process, from start to finish. Learning is built collectively from their questions, doubts, and mistakes, which I consider to be essential drivers of knowledge. The syllabus is flexible and adapts to the pace and needs of the group, encouraging an active and reflective understanding of the photographic act.”
