Jorge Granjel, Grangel Studio
Jordi Grangel has been part of the core team at Grangel Studio since 1990, working in character design and art direction roles for numerous international projects such as DreamWorks Animation’s “The Prince of Egypt,” “Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron,” “Antz,” “Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas,” “Madagascar,” “Kung Fu Panda,” and “How to Train Your Dragon”; Warner Bros.’ “Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride”; Sony Animation’s “Hotel Transylvania”; and Netflix’s “Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio,” to name the most important.
His creative work on advertising projects is also noteworthy, such as the design of the “Gambrinus” character for Cruzcampo (Heineken Group) and the creation and subsequent supervision of all consumer products for the mascot “Cat,” which was commissioned to Grangel Studio by Futbol Club Barcelona in 2024 for its 125th anniversary.
We also highlight his involvement in the production of various short films, with notable roles in directing and art directing the short film “Nina de Little Bulldozer,” and in character design for “The Periwig Maker,” “Alma,” and “Cafuné.”
Jordi Grangel runs Grangel Studio together with his brother Carlos. This Barcelona-based company specializes in Style Development for Animated Feature Film Productions and, with involvement in thirty produced feature films, is considered one of the most prestigious studios internationally.
“It is about conveying to the student information and images from the most relevant and current productions I have worked on, showing all possible aspects of the production process, but also offering an opinion on the company that handled the product and on how to create a good professional portfolio or even how to get to the point of offering one’s services to these companies. This gives the student the opportunity to gain broader knowledge, going beyond merely explaining methodology and professional experience.”
