Introduction

he audiovisual [sector] is experiencing an unprecedented transformation driven by generative artificial intelligence and virtual production. These technologies are not only redefining tools and processes, but also visual languages and forms of contemporary creation.

The present demands professionals capable of integrating creativity, critical thinking, and technical mastery in hybrid environments where real image, generated environments, real-time engines, and algorithmized tools coexist.

The Master in Advanced Audiovisual Creation – AI and Virtual Production prepares students to take on this new scenario. Throughout the course, they will learn to combine narratives, direction techniques, visual design, and advanced production processes with the use of generative AI and LED + Real Time Engine technologies.

The program is founded on a practical methodology based on projects, allowing each student to build a solid and current portfolio.

The master is framed within the ecosystem of innovation and creativity of Barcelona, one of the emerging poles of virtual production in Europe, and is nourished by the experience of active professionals who accompany the students in all phases of the creative process.

Values

The master approaches the audiovisual as a way of thinking and creating. Therefore, it proposes a training that combines critical thinking, technical mastery, and creative exploration.

Expanded Creativity

The program promotes a creativity that integrates human intuition, experimentation, and critical use of generative tools. AI is understood as an expressive catalyst capable of boosting new aesthetics and expanding the audiovisual language.

Hybridization of Languages

The proposal connects cinema, advertising, music, digital art, design, immersive narrative, and virtual production. Diverse formats are worked on, such as fashion films, music videos, short films generated with AI, and spots developed entirely in VP environments.

Visual Culture and Critical Thinking

AI forces the rethinking of concepts such as authorship, originality, and ethics. The program places critical reflection at the center to train professionals capable of making responsible, grounded, and contemporary decisions.

Experimentation and Technique

During the course, the student works with real-time engines, camera systems, LED screens, tracking flows, and generative AI tools for images, sound, and movement. Technique is always used as an expressive tool at the service of the idea.

Methodology

The methodology of the program is based on active learning that combines theory, practice, and experimentation in a balanced way.

From the beginning, students participate in real projects that cover the entire audiovisual process, from the conception of the idea to the final phase of post-production, allowing an integral understanding of the craft and its professional dynamics.

The work is developed in teams that replicate the usual roles of the industry, fostering collaboration, communication, and shared responsibility in each stage of the project. This approach is complemented by theoretical sessions that provide the historical, cultural, and critical context necessary to understand the evolution of audiovisual language and its transformation in the present.

In parallel, students receive specialized technical training through generative tools, real-time engines, and virtual production environments. Masterclasses and case analysis with active professionals delve into current practices of the sector, while tutorial follow-up guarantees a constant and personalized evolution.

Thanks to this combination of approaches, the student lives a fully immersive learning experience that allows them to master both the creative processes and the technical flows that define the contemporary audiovisual.

Study plan

1 Audiovisual Creation with Generative AI

Through theoretical sessions and practical projects, you will imagine characters, build worlds, and shape your stories. You will learn to work with images, video, sound, and generative text, exploring new aesthetics and ways of storytelling. The goal is for you to discover how to integrate AI into your creative process to expand your possibilities and take your ideas much further.

1.1
Foundations of AI: History, ethics, and authorship

General, historical, and critical vision regarding generative artificial intelligence in the audiovisual context. Introduction to its ethical, aesthetic, legal, and cultural implications.

1.2
Technology and generative AI tools

Technical exploration of AI tools for the creation of images, video, music, sound, and text. Construction of generative workflows applied to audiovisual projects.

1.3
Characters and environments

Development of characters, visual consistency, construction of universes, and techniques of integration and lighting in environments generated through AI. Exploration of the universe of the fashion editorial with AI tools.

1.4
Written creation and visual narrative

Narrative structure, visual syntax, and creation of micro-narratives. Development with AI tools of narratives based on static images: storyboard, comic, photo-novel, graphic novel.

1.5
Image in motion

Creation of audiovisual pieces of high creative impact (music video, fashion film, or video art) generated with AI, working on visual narrative, editing, aesthetics, sound, and post-production.

2 Virtual Production

You will master the convergence between real and virtual images using real-time engines and LED screens. You will delve into key technologies such as camera tracking, virtual scouting, and color management. Through professional roles, you will produce commercials on a virtual production set, controlling the entire workflow: from asset creation and pre-production to technical filming.

2.1
Foundations of Virtual Production

Introduction to the discipline, differences with traditional production, and analysis of cinematographic principles in a hybrid environment between real image and virtual image.

2.2
Analysis of Real Time Engine

Creation and editing of content for LED screens. Audiovisual narrative in virtual environments and foundations of photography direction (cinematography) in virtual production.

2.3
Virtual Production Technologies

Tracking, motion capture, color management, synchronization systems, and LED technologies applied to pre-production and filming.

2.4
Pre-production Process

Conceptual and technical construction of an advertising spot. Script, storyboard, design of universes, creation of assets, and integral planning of the project.

2.5
Production and Post-production Process

  • Professional production and post-production of two 30” spots in a Virtual Production environment, working on technical roles, real-time optimization, filming supervision, and set work with LED screens. Students must assume and complete in an integral way the post-production of both pieces.

3 Master’s Final Project

This is the moment when you put everything you have learned during the course into practice. Here you will develop two projects: a narrative short film created with generative AI tools and the complete finalization of the two commercials produced in the Virtual Production modules. You will work from the initial idea to post-production, including script, visual design, VFX, color, and mastering.

3.1
AI Audiovisual Narrative

The development of an audiovisual project of a narrative character generated mostly with generative artificial intelligence, where students will apply all previously acquired knowledge in terms of writing, generation of images in motion, music, sound, and post-production.

3.2
Virtual Production spots

The complete finalization of the two spots developed in the Pre-production and Virtual Production and Post-production modules, including color, compositing, VFX, and mastering.
